About Us

Dr. George Foukal was born in Prague, in the Czech Republic, in 1948. Shortly thereafter his family emigrated to Montreal. Educated in English he is also fluent in French and Czech. He graduated with an Honors Biology degree from Bishops University in 1970 and received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Montreal in 1975.

In 1979 he moved with his new wife Marie to Vancouver to start a family and a small animal practice on Vancouver's North Shore. Between 1979 and 2007 he has owned and operated out of 3 veterinary practices. He was active on several provincial veterinary association committees and has upheld a strong belief in the value of continuing education within the field of veterinary medicine. Dr. Foukal is a member in good standing of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and the British Columbia Veterinary Medical Association as well as the Vancouver Academy of Veterinary Medicine.

During his leisure time Dr. Foukal has maintained his interest in music (piano), reading and several summer and winter sports.

In the Fall of 2007 he and his family, including "Osito" his Portuguese water dog, moved to Vernon, a town which has always held a special attraction for them.
